This is Lonnie Plott. He is a prominent member of a union representing Electrical Workers. He is also much more important than you or I. I know that because the Democratic Party tells me so. Lonnie Plott is more important than you or I because Lonnie Plott is a superdelegate.

Let me bring you up to speed real quick in case you haven’t been paying attention. Superdelegates are elected officials, prominent party members, and in Lonnie Plott’s case… no one really special. But people like Lonnie Plott will very possibly decide the Democratic nominee for president.

I’m sure Lonnie Plott is a nice guy. I’ve never met him. I’m not going to dig into his past and uncover any dirt that may or may not be there. He’s just as qualified as anyone else who might have the ability to thwart the will of the voting public. That is to say, he’s not.

Democrats cried foul when President Bush won the White House while losing the popular vote. Why are they setting themselves up for the possibility of doing voters the same injustice within the party? No offense Mr. Plott, but you and the rest of the superdelegates should line up behind whatever nominee wins the popular vote. It’s the only right thing to do.
