I title this post ironically. Because the story I’m talking about represents the exact opposite of survival of the fittest. This story is more like thinning of the herd.
A pair of street racers faced off on a highway in Maryland early Saturday morning. By early, I mean 3am. But this was no isolated thing. This race drew a crowd. At 3am in backwoods Maryland!!!
The crowd gathered along the sides of the road. The racers spun their tires, kicking up a great deal of dust, and then a car plowed into the crowd. 8 people died and that’s sad. But 8 people died because they made the decision to gather along a remote highway at 3am and stand within inches of a pair of cars traveling upwards of 100 mph.
There are tragedies in the United States every day. Call me callous, but I don’t think this qualifies.
