In the movie “Tombstone”, Val Kilmer playing Doc Holliday says to his lover who has just given him a cigarette despite his tuberculosis something to the effect of, “I love you. Then again, you may be the Anti-Christ.” This sums up my feelings for political analyst Amy Holmes perfectly.

I have the most incredible crush on her, but her tenures as Bill Frist speechwriter and FOX News contributor tell me that she is bad for me. In much the way that I imagine Satan luring in the damned with twisted words and a beautiful face, so is Amy Holmes whispering sweet sweet Republicanism into my ear as my pure liberal mind is distracted by her curly little mini-afro and doe-like eyes.

I know she’s a registered Independent. But come on!!! She wrote speeches for Bill Frist! She worked at FOX!!! Even CNN calls her their “Conservative Analyst.” I’m sure the devil doesn’t just come out and tell you he’s evil either.

As election season rolls along, I sit through debate coverage, political commentary, and campaign punditry. I can ignore Karl Rove when FOX trots him out as a contributor. Instead I try to pay attention when Arianna Huffington, David Gergen, Roland Martin and the like talk. But I find my attention drifting to the little mousey unassuming evil that is Ms. Amy Holmes. God help my Democratic soul.

At least you get to drool over Amy Holmes. Look who we conservative ladies have as “eye candy” on the Clinton News Network and the Obama network outlets: Demo strategists a la James Carville and Bob Beckel. Throw us a freakin’ bone, already. We’re smart girls, we have money and we’d be happy to buy dinner for a cute Demo boy — since, you know, he’s probably broke as usual. ;-)
